REVIEW: L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream

Hi Loves,

TGIF!! Hope you all are enjoying your Friday and ready for Labor Day weekend!! I wanted to review this BB cream because I have completely fallen in love with it. When I was at the store I was actually looking for Maybelline's BB Cream but they were completely sold out in my color. I was kind of bummed out even after checking another store that was also sold out. So I sprung on this one. I am so glad that I did because I am in love with this and it is a new staple in my makeup kit. I have been wearing it everyday since I bought it and keeps my face looking flawless! :)

L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream:

Meet the Magic all-in-one Skin Beautifier for a perfect natural finish. This multi-tasking beautifying cream delivers multiple beautifying actions: hydrates, corrects, evens, and perfects. It's ultra lightweight and blends in seamlessly for a perfect natural finish. Available in 4 skin-transforming shades (L'Oreal, 2012).

  • Acts as a Primer
  • Perfects the skin
  • Hydrates the skin
  • Corrects any flaws

If you look closely, you can kind of see the little beads.
  • It comes out white at first but once it is rubbed in it adjusts to match your skin tone.
  • It perfects the skin and minimizes the appearance of my pores.
  • It acts as a great primer. I've actually been using this over my regular Smashbox primer.
  • It definitely hydrates and corrects flaws.
  • It gives a nice subtle glow to the skin.
  • It makes my skin appear flawless.
  • It has little small beads that blend and disappear into the skin when applied.
  • It can be worn with or without foundation.
  • It retails for about $10.99, you can pick it up at any drugstore or from Ulta.

Rubbing it, you can see it adjusting color.
  • My face does get a bit oily after use but it is so hot in Vegas that my skin gets oily no matter what because of the heat.

The Verdict:

Overall, I give this an A. I LOVE this BB Cream. As you can see there is barely any cons.  I have been wearing it everyday since I bought it. It leaves my skin looking flawless and I have been looking for a product that helps to minimize my pores. This has replaced my Smashbox primer, so that should say a lot by itself. Personally, I think it does a better job than Smashbox's primer. I apply it with my fingers rather than a brush because of the little beads that are in it. They are very tiny so they absorb into the skin quickly. I've been wearing it underneath my MAC Tinted Moisturizer

If you haven't tried this, then please do so! This is definitely a new staple in my makeup kit.
Have you tried this yet? What did you think?

Here it is completely absorbed into the skin. It matched my skin tone perfectly!

FOTD: Native American Dancer Inspired Makeup

Hey Loves,

Happy Hump Day! I hope you all are enjoying your day! One thing that I haven't shared with you all is that I am Native American. I come from the Squamish Nation tribe in North Vancouver, Canada. I've grown up living on the reservation ever since I was a born. It wasn't until 2009 when I finally moved off the rez and to Las Vegas. If you don't know much about Native Americans, we are very spiritual beings and are extremely into our culture and beliefs. It is definitely hard for me to be away from my culture back home and my family. It saddens me that my children won't grow up around the same things that I did. However, we go to the pow wow every year that is down here in Vegas. So that helps to bring a little culture back into my life. As soon as I hear those drums it takes over my soul. :)

Me on the left, Chantel on the right

As a preteen, I participated in our tribe's pow wows as a fancy shawl dancer and entered the princess pageants. I won two years in a row as Squamish Nation Princess. The first year I placed first and the second year after that I won the crown. So I am an actual Native American Princess, lol. Not just for the fact that I won the princess pageants but both of my great grandfathers were chiefs.

I came up with posting about this look because while I was dancing we would add dots or lines to the corner of our eyes or dots above the brow. Many dancers do this and it adds to the look of the regalia (outfit). A Native American dancer's makeup usually consists of earthy tones like browns and beiges. I've also noticed that a lot of women don't even wear makeup as their dancing. Personally, I love it and I love when they match their outfits.

I wanted to recreate this look from my past because I thought it would be fun and I wanted to add a bit more oomph to it. I was about 11-12 years old so I didn't wear a lot of makeup at the time. I wish I had some of my regalia pieces to wear for my pictures but unfortunately, they are back home at my parents house. The colors that I used are different shades of purple. My regalia was purple and white so I wanted to tie that into my makeup. It also had shiny sequins on it so I used sparkles on my eyes. So I hope you enjoyed my story and my look. Let me know what you think :)

REVIEW: Amir Argan Oil Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner

Hi Loves,

Hope you all are enjoying your Tuesday! :)

I was having a shower this morning and while using my shampoo and conditioner I thought to myself, "I should do a review on these!" lol. I usually don't stick to a shampoo and conditioner for long because I'm always trying out different ones. I am never completely satisfied. The only brand that I am absolutely satisfied with is Pureology. Pureology's products are excellent and make my hair feel superb.

A month ago Hautelook had a deal going on with Amir Argan Oil Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner. They came as a duo package for about $20 dollars. I was trying to find my receipt to locate the exact price but I couldn't find it. I'm sure Hautelook will have them on there again. They seem to rotate the same stuff sometimes? The first time I saw Urban Decay on there I was so excited and got a few items. Just recently, Urban Decay was on there again with the exact same stuff. That was a bummer... Anyways on to the review :)

Please excuse the shitty pictures. I probably took a picture of these 50 times but I couldn't get the correct lighting and the flash was making the label too bright.

Amir Argan Oil Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner:
  • Amir Argan Oil Moisturizing Shampoo is a sulfate and paraben free shampoo that is infused with argan oil and acai berry, that together, create a shampoo that will knock you out of this world.
  • Restores remarkable shine and softness.
  • Hydrates and replenishes nourishment.
  • Strengthens dry brittle hair.
  • Enriches hair color.

  • Amir Argan Oil Moisturizing Conditioner is a luxurious cream that helps restore moisture and repair chemically damaged hair, conditioning hair to its natural health.
  • Smoothes the hair cuticle.
  • Hydrates scalp and hair.

  • It is moisturizing and leaves a soft feel once dry.
  • I love that it is sulfate and paraben free.
  • It does seem to strengthen my hair because I've noticed less hair loss.
  • It washes out easy. Sometimes I have a hard time getting product out of my hair. Maybe I need a new shower head? :))
  • You only have to use very little product, which makes the bottle last longer. I have barely put a dent in the bottle and I have super long hair. It is right above my butt :)

  • The shampoo didn't "knock me out of this world" like the label stated.
  • I don't have color in my hair so I cannot comment on if it actually enriches the hair color.
  • It barely has a smell and it's not very enticing. I like my shampoo and conditioner to have a yummy smell to it that lasts.
  • You have to be careful when applying it to the scalp. My scalp can get rather oily and if you use too much then it will leave an oily feeling on the scalp.
  • It can leave my hair looking a little flat. I think it was too moisturizing. My ends are dry but I think I need something that has some volume.
The Verdict:

Overall, I give the shampoo and conditioner a B. I enjoy using the shampoo and conditioner. However, it can leave my hair feeling a bit oily and flat after use at the scalp. It seems like it is helping with strengthening though. If you've had children, then you know that you go through a phase of losing all the beautiful hair you gained while pregnant. Well I'm going through that phase right now and it is not very fun, lol. I also wish that it had a better smell to it. I love a shampoo and conditioner that leaves your hair smelling delicious. This one not so much.

Will I buy it again?

Probably not because it did not WOW me. I might have to go back to Pureology or keep pecking through the different brands until I find that WOW factor. Until then, on to the next one!

Hope this review was helpful. Have you tried this shampoo and conditioner? What did you think about it?

Monday, August 27, 2012

Hi Loves,

Hope you all had a fantastic Monday! If you have children then I'm sure they are back to school today or have already started. Today my son started his first day of school in first grade. I'm a little relieved that he is back now but also sad because he helps me with his baby sister when I need it, lol. Now it's back to doing homework every night and going to bed early. The homework they give kids at such a young age nowadays is way more than what I used to get, lol. Now I look at it and I'm like "Damn what is this?" :)) Here is a picture of him on his first day, all ready to go in his uniform and his fly kicks.

NOTD (Nails of the Day):

Essie's Muchi Muchi & Sally Hansen's Gem Crush in Big Money
Here are my nails of the day. I just did something quick and simple because my nails looked raggedy, lol. I am waiting for some nail art items that I purchased on eBay but they are coming from Hong Kong so they take a while. Once I get them I will post some more nail pictures with nail art. :)

If you're into nail art and haven't already checked out eBay for some nail art items then be sure to check them out. They have great deals and many of them offering free shipping. They are cheaper than a lot of the nail art websites that I have found. Anyways, hope you all had a fantastic Monday.

REVIEW: Maybelline Volum' Express One by One Mascara

Hiya loves,

Hope you all are enjoying your Sunday! I just recently picked up the Maybelline Volum' Express One by One mascara and I have been wearing it everyday since I bought it. Honestly, I don't have to try a mascara for weeks to test it out. I usually know after the first couple times if I love it, like it, or hate it.

I was going to get Maybelline's "The Mega Plush" mascara but my cousin told me the brush is too large and tends to clump on the brush so I decided not too on that one. There is nothing worse than pulling out your mascara wand and having the product all clump on the brush. That is the thing that I hate about some mascaras and if they do that then I will never repurchase it again, lol.  I have to admit that not until recently did I start trying out drugstore brand mascaras again. I've been pretty faithful to my MAC Studio Fix Bold Black Lash Mascara. Now that mascara NEVER clumps on the brush! And it also makes my lashes look flawless every time.

I decided to get this mascara because the name One by One intrigued me. I thought, "Hey, this sounds pretty good, I love a mascara that defines each lash perfectly." So here is my review on it and pictures to go with it. Please excuse me having no makeup on, lol. I wanted to showcase the mascara so you can easily see the lashes. :)

Maybelline Volum' Express One by One Mascara in Very Black

Maybelline's Volum' Express One by One Mascara:

• Finally, bold volume without any of the bulk.
• Patented Lash Catcher™ brush has 3 bristles per lash to make every lash count
• Catches, coats and de-clumps each lash to make them all fatter and flirtier
• Instant clump-free volume
• Contact lens safe and ophthalmologist-tested
• Washable, also available in Waterproof formula
• Big Volume, Lash by Lash (Maybelline, 2012)

• The brush is nice and soft. I love the way it feels on my lashes.

• The product itself is actually very smooth as well. It glides over my lashes nicely.

• It is clump-free like it says *Two Thumbs up*

• My eyelashes had great length and looked beautiful.

• I did not get the volume that it claims to give but it did give me great length. I get better volume from L'Oreal's Voluminous False Lashes mascara.

• It took too much work to try and separate each lash. The "One by One" claim did not achieve itself. I had to separate some of my lashes myself. This is annoying for me because I like my lashes to be separate and I don't want to spend extra time trying to do it myself when my mascara should have did it for me, lol. Yes, I am picky :))

• The packaging is too similar to Maybelline's other 100 mascaras, lol. They all look the same and now I'm starting to wonder if I tried this one before? hmmmm... lol

• It also didn't seem to make a difference after I put on two coats of it. It looked the same as it did after one coat.

The Verdict:

Overall, I would give this mascara a B+. My eyelashes looked great but I am super picky when it comes to my lashes and I tend to get frustrated over some mascaras if they don't do what I want immediately, lol. I know, I know, mascara isn't supposed to make miracles but you get my drift, haha.

Will I buy it again? Probably not because I wasn't super amazed by it. However, it did give me great length but like I said before, L'Oreal's Voluminous False Lashes mascara gives me better length and volume.

Here are some pictures of before and after:

After with one coat

After with two coats

Here it is with my makeup done

I hope this review was helpful to you all. Have you tried this mascara? Let me know what your thoughts on it were.

Small Drugstore Haul!

Hiya Loves,

Yesterday I had to go out and get my son his school supplies since he starts on Monday. Wal-Mart was a complete disaster and I couldn't even get up and down the aisles. School supplies aisles were filled with people who waited till the last minute to get their kids school supplies including ME! lol I wanted to rip my hair out, haha. :))

Anyways, I ended up buying a few things for myself because there was a few things that caught my eye. I thought I'd share with you what I picked up and I do plan on reviewing the items once I get a chance to fully utilize each of them.

First, I've been dying to try the Maybelline BB Cream but it was sold out at Wal-Mart and CVS. So I saw this other one by L'Oreal and decided to give this one a try. I actually wore it today and LOVED the result it gave. I am going to try it a few more times so I can get a good feel of it before I write a review.

The second beauty product I got is the L'Oreal Magic Lumi Concealer/Corrector. I saw this and it reminded me of YSL Touche Éclat. I actually used it today and it wasn't as luxurious as YSL's version but it did come out really nice. Review to come..

The third beauty product I got is Maybelline's new mascara Volum'Express One by One.

Another item that I picked up is Maybelline's Baby Lips. I've seen so many reviews about it so I decided to see what all the hype is about.

I also got this bronzer from Physicians Formula called Bronze Booster. I don't think it's new but I've been wanting to try it because it reminded me of Guerlain's Meteorites.

I got a few nail polishes. I just got back into doing my own nails again. I go through a phase every now and again where I get sick of paying ridiculous prices for my nails. So I decided to start buying some more polishes. Kiss Nail Artist, Sally Hansen's Gem Crush in Big Money, and Essie in Muchi Muchi.

Last but not least, I got this blow out brush by Goody. I needed a good one to use for my long hair. I used it today and it cut my drying time in half. I was pretty amazed.

So that's my haul! Hope you enjoyed it and let me know if you have used any of these products and what you think of them! Ciao for now, :)

Let me introduce myself...

Hello Fellow Makeup Addicts,

Welcome to my new makeup and beauty blog! My name is Rosie Means and I am 26 years young. I currently reside in Las Vegas, NV (City of Sinners, lol) but I am originally from Vancouver, Canada. I just created this blog because I have seen so many other beauty bloggers that inspired me to create my own. I love to try new makeup and try different techniques. I can sit up all night and watch YouTube tutorials on different makeup techniques and product reviews, lol. So I thought, "Hey this interests me, I can do this!" :-)

I am a stay at home mom and I am also a full time student with the University of Phoenix. All of my classes are online so I'm ALWAYS on the computer!  I also just started a mobile spray tanning company called Gorgeously Glowing (what else? lol). I have a makeup addiction (like most of you) and love to buy different products. So I thought to myself, "Hey I should share my opinions about the thousands of dollars I spend on different makeup and beauty products" lol.

Anyways let me stop rambling on and on. I look forward to chatting with you all about makeup and beauty! Please leave me a comment and I will be sure to hit you back :)
